Okay I wasn't able to get my L-rods yet but I have a choice between full sized and mini which are 3X6 inch. I want ones that are very sensitive. I think the Larger ones would be because the length would cause them to move more. I don't know. What's your opinion, Mini or Full sized?

Size has something to do with the sensitivity, but more important is the ease with which the L-rod can move in whatever you are using for a handle. I've made L-rods from several different kinds of wire and I've made handles from various materials from plastic soda straws and pen barrels to brass and aluminum metal tubes. The worst was a soft plastic tube that seemed to grip the L-rod wire so it wouldn't turn easily. The most sensitive set of L-rods I own is not the largest or the smallest, but the one where I got the wire bent just right and balanced in the thin walled metal tube I used for a handle. I've also used L-rods with no tube at all, just holding the bare wires in my hands. Not as much movement that way, but I could feel the wire turning force through my fingers, which was interesting.

I have two sets of L-rods that I use fairly regularly. One is small, the other large. The small ones fit inside a zippered pencil case I carry in my briefcase. I made them from a wire coat hanger and two 4 inch pieces of metal tubing from the hardware store. They are about 8 inches long and very handy -- they pretty much go with me everywhere. The big ones I made from a scrap piece of the thick aluminum wire they use to hang drop ceilings and two 6 inch pieces of metal tubing from the hardware store. They are about 18 inches long and mostly just sit in the back of my truck most of the time. The big ones are easier to use when I'm walking over rough ground. The only tools required to make any of the L-rods I've used were a pair of pliers to cut and bend the wire and a hacksaw and file to cut and smooth the metal tubing.

I'll mostly just be sitting at the table and doing the dowsing so Probably I just need the little ones. I don't have any tools but i could get a pair of wire cutters and make my own too, for larger ones. Plus the little ones are $2 cheaper. Thanks for the info and your response.

Why not get both and try them. Your only blowing off a few bucks and what if you order the wrong ones?

If you stay with dowsing you will make, or have made for you, precision L rods. I used super slick bearings that I use to salvage out of Sony VTR decks. These are precision bearings that were in the tape idler system on $30,000 prefessional VCRs. There are other sources for such bearings. The bearings in the motor on computer hard drives come to mind. Look around!

There are professional L rods made with such bearings, and if you got a war pension you don't need, you can get one right away. In the mean time use coat hangers if you have to. All roads lead to Mule Shoe, Texas you know
